Philip Glass and special guests
May 19, Music Hall of Williamsburg
Brooklyn, NY
Sunday’s show was an intimate showcase of new music and innovative collaborations with Philip. The full line-up for the evening was:
Sondre Lerche - http://www.sondrelerche.com/ – Originally from Norway, he’s an incredible voice and gentle soul who delivered an intimate solo acoustic performance.
Real Estate – http://realestatetheband.com/ – New Jersey indie rockers also went unplugged for their set.
Nico Muhly - http://nicomuhly.com/ – Nico used to copy score and sequence midi for Philip. He now is a world-renowned composer in is own right, incredibly prolific in the world of opera, album recordings, and live performance.
Nadia Sirota - http://www.nadiasirota.com/ – An elegant and commanding violist, Nadia performed with Nico and Bryce Dessner.
Bryce Dessner - http://www.brycedessner.com/ – Bryce is perhaps most famous for being a member of the rock band The National, but you may also know him from his long list of collaborations, curated productions, and other guitar work. For our fundraiser, Bryce performed a haunting solo guitar piece without touching a single string.
Tim Fain - http://timfain.com/ – Long-time collaborator and friend of the festival, Tim has a way of making an excellent performance exultant.
Philip Glass - http://philipglass.com/ – Philip performed his set with everyone, resulting in an incredibly enjoyable and vibrant experience. Think Levon Helms’ Midnight Ramble, only Brooklyn with both classical and rock musicians. And Philip Glass.
